Safety - Education
MUST
At Walker Electric, we take safety seriously. We cannot afford to be careless on the job because electricity does not forgive mistakes. That is why all of our personnel undergo extensive safety training and drug testing provided by the the Great Lakes Construction Alliance and Management and Unions Serving Together (MUST). The MUST Safety Program is dedicated to making a zero-accident career a reality.
The new training standard includes 18 Learning Modules based on topics from the OSHA 30 Hour Outreach Training Program. MUST will recognize other OSHA and DOL accredited instructor led training, licenses, and certifications that grant credit toward the 18 Learning Modules.

MSDS
A Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) is designed to provide both workers and emergency personnel with the proper procedures for handling or working with a particular substance. MSDS's include information such as physical data (melting point, boiling point, flash point etc.), toxicity, health effects, first aid, reactivity, storage, disposal, protective equipment, and spill/leak procedures. These are of particular use if a spill or other accident occurs. MSDS's vary in length depending on their format, content, and font size. We have seen them from 1 to 10 pages, with most being 2 to 4 pages.
OSHA
Walker Electric provides Fall Protection training to all of our electricians per the provisions of 29 CFR 1926. All onsite Walker Electric personnel are required to use Personal Protective Equipment per the provisions of 29 CFR 1910.
Apprentiseship Training
The mission of the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (NJATC) is to develop and standardize training to educate the members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the National Electrical Contractors Association; insuring and providing the Electrical Construction Industry with the most highly trained and highly skilled workforce possible.
The NJATC was created over 58 years ago and has developed into what perhaps is the largest apprenticeship and training program of its kind. Local programs affiliated with the NJATC have trained over 300,000 apprentices to journeyman status without cost to the taxpayers. This joint program between the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) has clearly demonstrated the most cost effective way to train qualified craft workers.
Skill, Knowledge and Attitude are the main focus in all of the NJATC's training programs.
